PAT Testing

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is a service that performs equipment maintenance checks to make sure that electrical appliances are safe.

Employers are required to ensure that their electrical equipment is maintained in order to prevent danger. PAT testing can be part of this maintenance.

What needs a PAT test?

Anything in your premises with a plug needs PAT testing; here are a few common examples.

  • Computers.
  • Kettles.
  • TVs.
  • Microwaves.
  • Hand dryers.

The frequency of inspection and testing depends on the type of equipment and the environment it is used in.

We start by providing customers with a survey to determine type, class and number of appliances which is followed up with a bets value quote and appointment booking.

Once on site, our experienced team will work around your business to organise the testing and cause as little disruption to your operations as possible.

What does a PAT test include?

  • The appliance will be disconnected from the supply socket
  • A visual inspection is performed.
  • The appliance and its supply cord will be inspected for any signs of damage.
  • Switch functionality will be checked.
  • Check the fuse within the plug top is correctly rated for the safe connection of the appliance.

A simple pass/fail tester will be carried out automatically once we have determined the class of equipment on site.
